Death under investigation in Burton’s Bridge area

McHenry County Sheriff’s Office asking boaters to avoid area of Fox River south of Route 176 bridge

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 36-year-old woman after deputies were called about 5:15 a.m. Thursday to the Burton’s Bridge Beach area, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

While a heavy law enforcement presence was in the area Thursday morning, few details on the incident have been released.

It was deemed an “isolated incident” that presents no further threat to the public, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Tim Creighton said.

Boaters were asked to avoid the Fox River south of the Route 176 bridge, Creighton said.
