‘From gardens overlooking a sparkling lake to those with magnificent trees, all nine gardens on the tour are a must-see,’ McHenry County College says

The Garden Walk hosted by the University of Illinois Extension McHenry County Master Gardeners will kick off July 10 at the outdoor Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, the Crystal Lake-based college said in a news release.

The event will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 10, and attendees can tour the nine featured gardens at their own pace, starting with the Demonstration Garden at MCC, according to the release. The college is located at 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

“From gardens overlooking a sparkling lake to those with magnificent trees, all nine gardens on the tour are a must-see,” the college said in the release.

The Demonstration Garden at McHenry County College, which is planted and tended by the Extension Master Gardeners, includes “a vine garden, cool shadowy corners full of shade-loving plants, various theme gardens and extensive displays of perennials and annuals,” according to the release.

Master Gardeners will be on-site at each garden to answer questions and offer educational materials, according to the release. Masks are required while touring the gardens. Social distancing will be enforced.

Advance tickets can be purchased for $12 online at gardenwalk2021.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 815-455-8588. All tickets must be picked up the day of the walk. Tickets also are available the day of the walk for $17.
