Norge Winter Ski Jump Tournament closing in on limit of 1,000 fans

The 116th Annual Norge Winter Ski Jump Tournament next weekend is close to being sold out.

Norge Ski Club president Scott Smith said on Friday that about 150 tickets remained available for anyone who wants to attend on Sunday, Jan. 31. The hill opens from noon to 4 p.m. that day for the championships.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, tickets will be limited to 1,000 for the tournament. Only friends and family are allowed at the hill for Saturday’s jumps, which will be children on the smaller hills.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at norgeskiclub.org. When the 1,000 total is reached, sales will be stopped.

Attendance for the event often reaches 3,000 to 5,000 people. The club decided to go ahead with the tournament this year, but limit capacity because of the coronavirus. Many of the top competitors from around the U.S. and the world will not be making the trip this time either because of COVID.
