The McHenry County Council of Governments took another step to “bring municipalities and the county together to increase efficiency and lower costs by sharing services” by formally backing the results of a three-year study finalized earlier this bring, according to a news release.
More than 100 local officials help draft the recommendations included in the study, which focused on ways that local governments can cooperate and collaborate, according to the release. Among the recommendations was growing the McHenry County Municipal Partnering Initiative, a joint purchasing group, and building on and growing shared services.
McHenry County and the McHenry County Council of Governments recently partnered to create a county coordinator position to oversee the McHenry County Municipal Partnering Initiative, according to the release.
“Thank you to the local government members who worked for the last three years to draft recommendations for better collaboration and intergovernmental cooperation in McHenry County,” McHenry County Council of Governments President and Ringwood Village President Rick Mack said in the statement. “The final report is a success for McHenry County and will be used as reference for years to come.”
