McHenry County releases updated list of warming centers

Locations available in McHenry, Richmond, Crystal Lake and Port Barrington

The Salvation Army's Crystal Lake location will serve as a warming center, one of four identified by McHenry County this week.

Several locations in McHenry County are serving as warming centers to help those in need during the ongoing cold snap, according to the McHenry County government.

Visitors to these centers must be masked, according to a news release.

The list includes:

  • McHenry Municipal Center, 333 S. Green St. Visitors must check in at the police dispatch center or records division.
  • Richmond Township, 7812 Route 31, Richmond. Open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • The Salvation Army, 290 W. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake. Open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Lake in the Hills Community Room, 600 Harvest Gate. Call 847-658-5676 for access. Sleeping accommodations are not available.
  • Port Barrington Community Center, 69 S. Circle Ave. Open upon request.
