Crystal Lake man jailed on child pornography charges

Police also found sawed-off shotgun in his possession, court records show

A 42-year-old Crystal Lake man previously convicted in a fatal drunken-driving crash was arrested Monday on multiple counts of child pornography.

Andrew S. Ladd, of the 100 block of Dole Avenue, remained at the McHenry County Jail Tuesday afternoon. He would need to post $7,000 bail to secure his release.

Ladd is accused of possessing multiple sexually explicit images of children on Feb. 11, according to a criminal complaint. Police also found the man in possession of a sawed-off Beretta shotgun, court records show.

As a convicted felon, Ladd is barred from owning firearms, according to a separate criminal complaint.

Ladd was convicted of reckless homicide in 2001 in connection with a DUI crash that killed a pedestrian, Reyes Soto Sanchez.

As a result, Ladd was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay $500 of restitution, court records show.

A McHenry County judge on Tuesday appointed Ladd an attorney from the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office to represent him on the most recent charges.

He’s expected to make his next court appearance Monday morning.
