Harvard man charged after police say he rammed pickup into Woodstock Harley-Davidson dealership

A 34-year-old Harvard man was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle after police said he crashed his pickup truck into the Woodstock Harley-Davidson dealership earlier this month before bystanders restrained him.

Keith G. Dobner, of the 22900 block of Oak Grove Road, also faces a felony charge of criminal damage to property and misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless conduct, court records show.

The criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court alleges that Dobner intentionally drove his pickup truck through the front door of an open business, endangering the safety of others. It also alleges that he intentionally, and without justification, tried to run over a man with his vehicle.

The charges came after the Woodstock Police Department spoke with multiple witnesses and reviewed video surveillance footage, the department said in a news release Friday.

Officers were dispatched at 4:45 p.m. Feb. 8 to the Woodstock Harley-Davidson dealership, 2235 S. Eastwood Drive, where they found a silver Ford F-150 that had just crashed into the building, police said at the time.

When police arrived, they found several witnesses and employees restraining the driver on the ground, according to a news release at the time.

The man, now identified as Dobner, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital after members of the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District evaluated his injuries, the police department said. No one else was injured.

The complaint was filed Feb. 9, and Dobner was arrested Feb. 13 upon his medical release, Woodstock police said Friday.

An attempt to reach Dobner’s attorney Friday was not successful.
