Dundee-Crown’s girls basketball team is the third Fox Valley Conference team to be quarantined and miss games because of COVID-19.

D-C athletic director Steve Gertz confirmed Thursday that the Chargers girls varsity team is under quarantine. It will miss four games.

“We will resume play on [Saturday] March 6,” Gertz said. “We are quarantined through next Friday. We’re expecting to be back for the [FVC] tournament.”

Gertz could not say if the positive test was from a D-C player or an opposing player. Crystal Lake South’s boys and Crystal Lake Central’s girls are the other FVC teams that were forced to quarantine. D-C and Central girls played Feb. 19.

South’s boys rescheduled three games and will play six consecutive days starting Sunday, then play in the tournament. News of Central’s girls quarantine came Wednesday, which meant the Tigers lost the rest of their regular-season games.

D-C now is in the same situation. The Chargers were set to play at Burlington Central on Friday, then at Jacobs on Monday, home with Hampshire on Wednesday and at Prairie Ridge on Friday.
