The honors continue to roll in for Loyola center Cameron Krutwig.

Krutwig, a 2017 Jacobs graduate from Algonquin, was named to The Associated Press’ All-America third team Tuesday, becoming the first Rambler to be recognized on the first, second or third team AP All-America list since Alfredrick Hughes in 1985.

Krutwig recently was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year and made the All-MVC team for the third consecutive season. The 6-foot-9, 255-pound center also made Sports Illustrated’s All-America third team last week.

Loyola is the No. 8 seed in the Midwest Regional and faces Georgia Tech at 3 p.m. Friday in a first-round tournament game on TBS. Krutwig started as a freshman center on the Ramblers’ NCAA Final Four team in 2018. This is their first trip back to the tournament since then.

Krutwig helped Loyola to a 24-4 record and an AP Top 25 ranking, finishing the regular season at No. 17. The Ramblers won the MVC regular-season title at 16-2 and won the MVC Tournament.

Krutwig is averaging 15 points, 6.7 rebounds, three assists, 1.2 blocked shots and 1.1 steals a game. He is hitting 57.9% on field goals and 67.4% on free throws.

Krutwig joined an elite group this season when he passed 1,500 points, 800 rebounds and 300 assists for his career. The three previous players to accomplish that in the MVC were Oscar Robertson (Cincinnati), Larry Bird (Indiana State) and Hersey Hawkins (Bradley). Krutwig not has 1,790 points, 919 rebounds and 364 assists for his career.

Teammate Lucas Williamson and Krutwig are the winningest players in Loyola history, having played in 97 victories over their four-year careers.

The AP All-America first-team players were Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert, Baylor’s Jared Butler, Iowa’s Luke Garza, Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu and Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham.

Named to the second team were Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson, Illinois’ Kofi Cockburn, Gonzaga’s Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme and USC’s Evan Mobley.

Selected to the third team with Krutwig were Baylor’s Davon Mitchell, Houston’s Quentin Grimes, Alabama’s Herb Jones and Oregon’s Chris Duarte.
