Huntley boys roll past Ogden International at DeKalb’s Chuck Dayton Classic

Huntley had no trouble in its 83-28 victory over Ogden International on Monday at the Chuck Dayton Classic in DeKalb.

Fourteen players contributed offensively for the Red Raiders (9-2), led by a 16-point effort from John Kramer. Ben Ahmer added 12 points, Aiden Wieczorek scored nine and Adam Guazz scored eight points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Plainfield East 43, Dundee-Crown 38 (OT): At DeKalb, the Chargers squandered a 17-4 halftime lead before taking an overtime loss at the Chuck Dayton Classic.

D-C (6-3) allowed only four points in the first quarter and held East scoreless in the second, but a 20-point Bengals fourth forced overtime.

Zach Ryza and Jason Huber scored 11 points each in the loss.

Prairie Ridge 48, Jacobs 32: At Algonquin, Zach Lindquist hit four 3s and scored 15 points to lead the Wolves (5-6) to a Consolation B bracket win over the Golden Eagles (2-10) at the Hinkle Holiday Classic.

Prairie Ridge’s Jackson Otto made three 3s and scored nine points. The Wolves will meet Crystal Lake South in the Consolation B championship at 3 p.m.

Jackson Martucci scored nine to lead Jacobs and Brett Schlicker added eight.

Crystal Lake South 61, Grant 50: At Algonquin, A.J. Demirov and Arnav Jain scored 15 points each to lead the Gators (9-5) past the Bulldogs in their Consolation B bracket semifinal.

Isaiah Kirkeeng scored 10 and Zach Peltz added nine for South.

Johnsburg 74, Streamwood 71: At Algonquin, Dylan Schmidt scored 19 points as the Skyhawks (6-7) picked up their first win in the Hinkle Holiday Classic, beating the Sabres in a Consolation C bracket semifinal.

Schmidt had three 3s and a dunk in his points. Ian Boal added 13 points and Luke Conroy and Jake Metze each scored 12, with three 3s. Jacob Welch added 10.

Streamwood trailed, 61-46, after three quarters before closing the gap.

North Boone 67, Alden-Hebron 37: At Poplar Grove, the Giants were unable to keep up with the North Boone Christmas Tournament’s host.

Justin Gritmacker scored 16 points in the loss.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Maine South 44, Hampshire 39: At Carpentersville, the Whip-Purs lost a close one at the Komaromy Classic hosted by Dundee-Crown.

Ashley Herzing and Chloe Van Horn scored nine points each in the loss.

Barrington 58, Dundee-Crown 25: At Carpentersville, the Komaromy Classic’s host suffered a one-sided loss to Barrington.

Thea Mercado led D-C with 12 points.

Whitney Young 68, Huntley 32: At Lombard, the Red Raiders ran up against an imposing foe at the Montini Christmas Tournament.

Huntley (7-2) fell behind early and never made up much ground in the loss. Ashlyn Horton had eight points and two 3s.

Alden-Hebron 32, North Boone 31: At Poplar Grove, the Giants took down the host of the North Boone Christmas Tournament in a close one.

Jessica Webber led the way for A-H (5-6) with 19 points.

South Beloit 33, Harvard 24: At Poplar Grove, the Hornets came up short in a North Boone Christmas Tournament matchup.

Meadow Jader scored 10 points in the loss.
