Huntley’s Aiden Wieczorek hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 points to help the Red Raiders past McHenry, 50-39, in their Fox Valley Conference boys basketball game at McHenry.

Adam Guazzo and Chet Andrews each chipped in with seven for the Raiders (3-3, 3-2 FVC).

Matt Gallimore led the Warriors (1-4, 1-3) with 16 points. Adam Benton and Anthony Fowler each added eight points.

Marian Central 59, Harvard 42: At Woodstock, Christian Bentancur scored 16 points and Jake Giangreco added 12 as the Hurricanes (2-7) defeated the Hornets (0-6) in a nonconference game.

Marian led, 25-22, at halftime and broke the game open in the second half.

Trey Amaya hit three 3s to lead Harvard, and Salvador Lemus added 10 points and a pair of 3s.

Christian Liberty 44, Alden-Hebron 35: At Arlington Heights, Thomas Webber scored 10 points, and Parker Elswick scored eight as the Giants (2-5, 2-5) lost to the Chargers in their Northeastern Athletic Conference game. Webber and Elswick both hit two 3s.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Prairie Ridge 43, Marengo 37: At Crystal Lake, Karsen Karlblom hit three 3s and scored 23 points to lead the Wolves (3-3) past the Indians (5-1) in their nonconference game.

Jennifer Heinberg hit two 3s and led Marengo with 12 points. Alexis Kunde made two 3s and finished with eight.

Joliet Catholic 45, Marian Central 34: At Joliet, Julia Hogel and Jenna Golembiewski scored 11 points each to lead the Hurricanes (2-3, 0-3) in their East Suburban Catholic Conference loss to the Angels.

Christian Liberty 42, Alden-Hebron 24: At Arlington Heights, the Giants (1-6, 1-6) got 10 points from Kendra Cashmore and nine from Karly Strand in their NAC loss to the Chargers.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS

Prairie Ridge co-op 148.60, Antioch-Lakes 129.50: At Crystal Lake Gymnastics Training Center, Gabby Riley, Gracie Willis and Elly Thistle finished 1-2-3 in the all-around as the Wolves won their first meet of the season.

Prairie Ridge, which draws athletes from Cary-Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Crystal Lake South and Prairie Ridge, was last year’s IHSA state champion, and Riley won the all-around title.

Riley scored 37.75 to edge Willis (37.50) for first. Thistle scored 36.15 for third.

Willis won the vault (9.85) and Riley (9.75) was second. Willis also won uneven bars (9.60) and Riley (9.35) was second there.

Riley and Teagan Perrone (9.40) tied for first on balance beam, and Riley and Audrey Burke (9.25) tied for first on floor exercise.

BOYS BOWLING

Huntley 3,008, McHenry 2,485: At Raymond’s Bowl in Johnsburg, Nicholas Zummo rolled games of 266 and 257 to finish with a 700 series and lead the Red Raiders to the dual victory over the Warriors.

AJ Debello rolled a 672 series with a 264 high game for Huntley, and Hayes Porsche had a 591 series with two games of 200-plus pins.

Myles Glab rolled games of 255 and 234 for a 615 series to lead the Warriors. Carl Matters had a 491 series with a 221 game.

Johnsburg 2,686, Woodstock 2,649: At Kingston Lanes in Woodstock, Luke Tinsley (579), Landon Banaszynski (565) and Tommy Oeffling (555) led the Skyhawks past the Blue Streaks in a close match.

Zach Cynowa rolled a 634 series, with games of 232 and 221 for the Streaks. Brady Caldwell rolled a 255 for the match’s high game and had a 631 series. Jacob Piquette added a 505 series for Woodstock.

Banaszynski rolled a 206 high game for the Skyhawks, Oeffling added a 202. Wrigley Bucaro rolled a 528 series.

Marengo 3,223, DeKalb 2,730: At Mardi Gras Lanes in DeKalb, Justin Lechner rolled a 659 series, with a 265 game, to lead the Indians past the Barbs.

Lechner also had a 204 game. Tim Scholl added a 616 series with a 239 high game, while Kyle Peters rolled a 536 series with a 207 high game.

GIRLS BOWLING

Woodstock 2,510, Johnsburg 1,832: At Raymond’s Lanes in Johnsburg, Ceri Deacon rolled a 584 seriers and a 235 high game to lead the Blue Streaks past the Skyhawks.

Norah Mungle had a 529 series, with a 207 high game and Alli Fansler added a 456 series.

Gosia Much rolled a 199 in the third game for a 484 series.

Ana Bates topped Johnsburg with a 412 series.

Marengo 2,151, Huntley 1,653: At Glo Bowl in Marengo, Grace Wzientek rolled a 198 game and finished with a 465 series to lead the Indians past the Red Raiders.

Raina Hellyer had a 462 series and Bethany Christian rolled a 449.

BOYS SWIMMING

Cary-Grove co-op 131, McHenry 39: At McHenry, Kameron Fadden and Dexter Zielinski each won two events as the D-155 team defeated the Warriors in their dual meet.

Fadden won the 50- and 200-yard freestyles; Zielinski won the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Freshmen Brendan Baser (500 freestyle) and Drew Watson (100 backstroke) also had victories. Danial Sanahurskyj won the 100 breaststroke for C-G.
