FOX LAKE – A juvenile has been charged with multiple felonies after he was arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Fox Lake, authorities said.
At 6:58 p.m. Dec. 5, Fox Lake police officers received a report of an armed robbery and a victim with a gunshot wound, according to a news release. The victim, an 18-year-old Round Lake man, had already left the area and was being treated at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Police said the man had been selling cannabis and THC vapes to a juvenile male in the area of the 100 block of Devlin Road. During the sale, the boy brandished a gun, trying to steal the products and money from the man, according to the release. The boy allegedly fired one shot that struck the man in his shoulder. The boy then fled on foot, and the man left the area to get medical attention before calling police.
The boy was identified and arrested the morning of Dec. 9. He has been charged with aggravated battery, use of a firearm, armed robbery, discharge of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm, according to the release.
The boy was taken to the Depke Juvenile Detention Center. He appeared in court Dec. 10. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a petition to detain, which was granted. The boy is being held at the Depke Juvenile Detention Center ahead of a preliminary hearing Dec. 18.
