After more than a year of campaigning, voters headed to the polls Tuesday to choose the new sheriff of McHenry County.

McHenry County voters will line up today to cast their votes in this year’s primary election races, months later than normal. The delay had some local officials concerned about turnout, which started slow but ticked upward as early voting continued.

The race to be McHenry County's next sheriff now has self-funding from both candidates after Robb Tadelman loaned his campaign $25,000 this week and Tony Colatorti also made a personal loan to his campaign earlier this year.

A McHenry County electoral board decided in April that Tony Colatorti could stay on the ballot. The objectors are seeking to have a judge overrule that decision.
