Two La Salle men injured in single-vehicle, Route 251 crash in Troy Grove Township

Two La Salle men were taken to a local hospital Sunday following a single-vehicle crash on Route 251, a quarter of a mile south of North 39th Road in Troy Grove Township.

According to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Gabriel Mojica, 19, of La Salle, was driving southbound on Route 251 at 9:10 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway, entered the west ditch and overturned multiple times in the field. Mojica and his passenger Devin Chaparro, 18, of La Salle, were ejected from the vehicle and taken to local hospitals, deputies said.

Mojica was cited on complaints of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and failure to wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt, deputies said. Chaparro also was cited on a complaint for failure to wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt, deputies said.
