A 23-year-old Chicago man was arrested Friday after police said he led them on a pursuit on Interstate 80 after being stopped on traffic complaints in downtown Ottawa.
Noah M. Bakr is charged with aggravated fleeing/eluding a peace officer, which is a felony charge, the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office said.
At about 10:55 a.m., La Salle County deputies attempted to stop Bakr in downtown Ottawa on several traffic complaints, police said. The sheriff’s office said Bakr fled from deputies leading them on a pursuit onto Interstate 80 where Bakr lost control of his vehicle entering the north ditch just east of the Utica exit.
Bakr was taken into custody. There were no injuries reported and Bakr’s vehicle sustained damage. Bakr is being held at the La Salle County Jail on $100,000 bond with 10% to apply. Additional charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
