Teegan Davis, Princeton, jr., G
Davis’ strong all-around game helped the Tigers to 21 wins and their first regional title since 2011. He averaged 15.9 points, which ranked top 10 in the area, to go along with 7.8 rebounds, three assists and 2.2 steals a game, which all ranked top five in the area. Davis was voted first-team All-Three Rivers Conference East Division.
Paul Hart, St. Bede, sr., G
The 2022 NewsTribune Boys Basketball Player of the Year was one of the best scorers in area history. He led the area in scoring at 27 points a game and finished with 1,811 career points to set the program record despite playing his junior year in Arkansas. Hart also led the area in rebounds (12.5 a game) and also averaged two assists and one block.
Jackson McDonald, Putnam County, jr., F
McDonald led the Panthers to their first regional championship since 2014, their first 20-win season since 2016 and a Sweet 16 appearance. McDonald averaged 16 points, 7.5 rebounds, two assists and one steal a game. He was unanimous All-Tri-County Conference selection.
Carter Salisbury, Bureau Valley, sr., G
Salisbury was a prolific scorer, averaging 22.9 points a game, which ranked second in the area. He eclipsed 1,000 career points and set a school record with 45 points in a game. The IBCA Class 2A All-State honorable mention pick also average 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists – which led the area – and 2.6 steals.
Grady Thompson, Princeton, jr., G
Thompson was the leading scorer for the 21-win Tigers, averaging 19.8 points a game, which ranked fourth in the area. The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Class 2A All-State third-team pick also averaged 6.9 points, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals. He helped PHS to its first regional title since 2011.
