Roundup: Mendota volleyball tops Kewanee

Bailey Baird had nine kills, seven digs and one ace Tuesday to lead the Mendota volleyball team to a 25-20, 19-25, 25-9 win over Kewanee in a Three Rivers Conference East Division match.

Lauren Martin had 19 digs and an ace for the Spikers while Reanna Brant added eight kills.

Henry-Senachwine def. Midland 25-8, 25-18

Hope Self had 17 assists, 10 points and five aces Tuesday as the Mallards earned a victory in a Tri-County Conference Tournament consolation semifinal in Streator.

Self recorded her 1,000th career assist during the match.

Lauren Harbison had 12 digs, five points and a pair of aces for Henry, while Abbie Stanbary put down seven kills.

The Mallards play Putnam County in the consolation final on Thursday.

Earlville def. DePue 25-6, 25-9

Brynn Guelde served four aces and put down three kills Tuesday to help the Red Raiders to a Little Ten Conference victory in DePue.

Emma Benson had 13 assists for Earlville (18-5, 7-1), while Nevaeh Sansone added three kills.

Bureau Valley def. Hall 22-25, 25-14, 25-19

The Storm picked up a Three Rivers Conference East Division victory Tuesday in Spring Valley.

“I was happy with our play,” BV coach Caitlyn DeMay said. “There were a lot of really good rallies and we are finishing them now and that is a big step in the right direction. Playing here was good for us. They have a great student section and the atmosphere was awesome and the experience will help us as we move into the regional.”

Sarah Peters had five kills and two blocks as the Cavaliers fell in an Interstate Eight Conference match Tuesday in Sycamore.

Taylor Martyn added seven digs and four points for L-P.

Sterling 47, La Salle-Peru 41

Peyton Heagy won two individual events and swam on a winning relay Tuesday as the Cavaliers fell on senior night in La Salle.

Heagy won the 50-yard freestyle (24.92 seconds) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.8) while teaming with Kailey Goetsch, Evvie Jepson and Clara Guglielmetti to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:52.83).

Guglielmetti also won the 200 freestyle in 2:12.9.

St. Bede 2, Streator 2

The Bruins played to a tie Tuesday.

St. Bede got doubles wins from Morgan Nawa and Madison McGunnigal at No. 1 and Krystal De La Torre and Abby Michels at No. 2.

Gio Garcia scored three goals on three assists from Brayan Gonzalez as the Cavaliers lost a non-conference game in La Salle.
