Area roundup: St. Bede baseball tops Erie-Prophetstown

Jake Delaney went 2-for-3 and scored a run Thursday to help the St. Bede baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Erie-Prophetstown in a Three Rivers Conference East Division game in Peru.

Dominic Bima and Braden Damerell each drove in a run for the Bruins (7-6).

Seth Ferarri earned the win, as he gave up one unearned run on two hits with five strikeouts and three walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Mendota 8, Oregon 7

Andres Castaneda singled in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Trojans to a Big Northern Conference victory in Mendota.

Krew Bond hit a pair of home runs, had five RBIs and scored three runs for Mendota, while Dominik Stamberger earned the win in relief.

Fieldcrest 5, El Paso-Gridley 3

Noah Nordstrom was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs on Thursday to help the Knights to a Heart of Illinois Conference victory in Wenona.

Landon Cook went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for Fieldcrest.

Timmy Luckey earned the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed two hits and struck out five batters.

Seneca 11, Henry-Senachwine 2

Eric Garrison had a run and an RBI on Thursday in a Tri-County Conference loss in Henry.

Ayden Malavolti took the loss for the Mallards (7-5).

Princeton 10, Bureau Valley 5

Mckenzie Hecht went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs Thursday to help the Tigers to a Three Rivers Conference East Division game in Princeton.

Isa Ibarra was 3-for-3 with three runs for PHS.

Katie Bates pitched a complete game, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits with nine strikeouts and four walks.

Darla Kepner hit a home run and drove in three runs for the Storm, while Tyra Sayler took the loss in the circle.

Erie-Prophetstown 5, St. Bede 3

Madelyn Torrence blasted a solo home run Thursday as the Bruins lost a Three Rivers Conference East Division game in Peru.

Ryann Stoudt was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for St. Bede (6-5), while Reagan Stoudt took the loss in the circle.

Oregon 6, Mendota 3

Paige Manning went 1-for-3 with an RBI as the Trojans lost a Big Northern Conference game in Oregon.

Manning also took the loss in the circle for MHS.

Jaidin Trone was 1-for-3 with an RBI as the Panthers dropped a non-conference game Thursday in Granville.

Paxton Stunkel took the loss for PC (3-5).

Avery Strohm drove in the lone run for the Red Raiders in a non-conference loss Thursday in Earlville.

Paige Marks took the loss in the circle for Earlville (3-7).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

At Manlius

Ashley Nordstrom won a pair of events Thursday to lead Bureau Valley to victory in a Three Rivers Conference quadrangular.

Nordstrom won the shot put with a toss of 33 feet, 1.25 inches and the pole vault by clearing 6-6.75.

The Storm, who swept the relays, racked up 116 points to beat the Amboy co-op (50), Newman (36) and Hall (24).

Elly Jones led the Clippers as she won the 100-meter hurdles (16.43), the 300 hurdles (49.86) and the triple jump (35-1.25).

Hall’s Promise Giacometti won the 100 in 13.67 seconds.

COED TRACK AND FIELD

At Princeton

Teegan Davis won two individual events and ran on a winning relay Thursday as Princeton beat Ottawa 92-46 in a dual.

Davis cleared 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump and leapt 20-10 to win the long jump. He ran with Logan Glancy, Ethan Thompson and Ronde Worrels to win the 400-meter relay (44.63).

In the girls meet, Princeton topped Ottawa 76-55 behind three wins from Jenna Loftus.

Loftus claimed the high jump (4-7), 800 (2:44.87) and the 300 hurdles (55.81).

At Granville

Madison Boggio ran the 100-meter dash in 15.1 seconds to place second Thursday as Putnam County finished third in a Tri-County Conference triangular.

The Panthers scored 20 points to finish behind Seneca (106) and Marquette (22).

In the boys meet, Putnam County finished third with 17 points. Seneca (111) won and Marquette (26) was second.

The Panthers had three third-place finishes – Wyatt Grimshaw in the 1,600 (5:55.18), Joey Twardowski in the 3,200 (12:42.53) and Wes Grimshaw in the discus (90 feet, ½ inch).

At Fisher

Carol Megow won two events Thursday to help Fieldcrest to a second-place finish in a Heart of Illinois Conference quadrangular.

Megow won the 100-meter dash (14.06 seconds) and the discus (79 feet, 0.5 inches).

The Knights scored 27 points to finish behind Heyworth (39).

In the boys meet, Fieldcrest (21) was third behind Heyworth (36) and Fisher (25).

For Fieldcrest, Mason Stoeger won the 800 (2:01.34) and Christian Skaggs won the 1,600 (4:50.15).

GIRLS SOCCER

Mendota 3, Oregon 3

Isabella Tolentino scored two goals Thursday as the Trojans played to a tie in a Big Northern Conference game in Oregon.

Natalia Stewart also scored a goal for MHS (3-5-1), while Daisy Arteaga and Tanya Rosas each had an assist.

Princeton 5, Plano 0

The Tigers earned a win Thursday in Princeton.

BOYS TENNIS

Rochelle 3, La Salle-Peru 2

The Cavaliers fell in an Interstate Eight Conference match Thursday in Rochelle.

Joe Pohar won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles for L-P, while Gavin Jonassen and Adam Sarabia earned a 6-2, 6-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

At Dakota

The Amboy co-op finished fourth in a Northwest Upstate Illini Conference quadrangular Thursday.

The Clippers scored 26 points to finish behind Galena (53), Dakota (47) and Lena-Winslow (34).

The Amboy foursome of Kyler McNinch, Wyatt Lundquist, Calvin Deering and Brock Loftus placed second in the 3,200 relay in 9:32.73.
