State police in La Salle issued 21 citations and 12 written warnings in a recent distracted driving campaign.

The citations issued by District 17 troopers included five for unlawful use of hand-held devices and four texting while driving.

The extra enforcement patrols were made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
