La Salle-Peru High School to celebrate 2020 Hall of Honor inductees

Nine individuals and one team will be honored for the prestigious honor

This weekend La Salle-Peru Township High School will celebrate the induction of the members of the L-P Hall of Honor Class of 2019. Activities include a salute Friday before the varsity boys basketball game against Ottawa and an induction ceremony at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 in Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium. Admission is free to Saturday's event.

The La Salle-Peru High School Hall of Honor Committee wants to welcome the community to celebrate the Class of 2020 inductees this fall.

The group of nine outstanding individuals and one team were selected in December 2020, but the recognition and induction ceremonies were delayed due to COVID-19 prevention measures.

David Ivlow, Chris Izzo, Richard Kolowski, Richard Koppen, Eda Matthiessen, Phonda Morel, Doug Pomatto, Tony Siebert, Donald Volk and the 1968 Football team will be recognized between the freshmen and varsity football games on Friday, Oct. 15, in Howard Fellows Stadium.

The Hall of Honor was established in 2017 and recognizes those members of the LPHS community whose outstanding commitment to LPHS has helped to shape the Cavalier heritage.

The focus of the Hall of Honor is to recognize excellence in achievement, academic, artistic, athletic or general distinguished achievement, while a high school student, after leaving high school or a combination of both.

Honorees may have attended LPHS or may have never attended LPHS, but were significant and accomplished contributors that have been associated with the school.
