Spring Valley stabbing victim transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria

Two men were involved in an altercation, according to police chief

Spring Valley police officers responding to a call at 6:06 p.m. Friday, July 23, in the 500 block of West Dakota Street found a man on the ground who was bleeding from a stab wound, Police Chief Adam Curran said.

The victim was first taken to St. Margaret’s Health before being transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Curran said he spoke with the victim on Saturday. He described him as being in fair condition.

According to Curran, the victim was involved in an altercation with another man, who was apprehended at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That person was charged with aggravated battery.

No mention was made of a weapon that might have been used in the attack.

Curran identified the suspect as Eric Sobin of Spring Valley.

Illinois Crime Scene assisted in the investigation.
