Putnam County senior Sophia Harris signed a letter of intent to play basketball at IVCC.

Harris averaged 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1 assist per game last season as she helped the Lady Panthers to a 16-16 overall record and a 5-2 mark and second-place finish in the Tri-County Conference.

“We are thrilled that Sophia decided to continue her academic and basketball career at IVCC,” IVCC coach Josh Nauman said. “She will be an excellent addition to the women’s basketball program. With her scoring ability and athleticism, she should be a key contributor the next two seasons.

“She is the first player to sign for next season’s freshman class. We hope Sophia is the start of a great class.”

Harris was a NewsTribune Second-Team All-Area selection and a First-Team All-Tri County Conference pick as a junior.
