Championship II
The lower half of the Championship Flight leaderboard after Saturday’s opening round at Pine Hills played for its own trophies, with last year’s A Flight champion, JD Joanis, winning a one-hole playoff against Joe Cravatta to claim the Championship II title. Both Joanis and Cravatta finished their regulation 18s with identical 156 scores — 80 at Pine Hills and 76 at The Eastwood.
Kevin Pflibsen (157) was third and Jeremiah Pike (158) fourth.
A Flight
Three A Flight linksmen managed to mark rounds in the 70s both Saturday and Sunday, but ultimately it was Paul Snook’s 72 Saturday that proved to be the difference as his 72-79 for a 151 secured a three-stroke victory over Eric Phillis (154) for the A Flight title.
Charlie Dunkel (156) was third. Brandon Cinotto (158) and Brandon Urbance (158) tied for fourth.
B Flight
Jimmy Park trailed a handful of competitors — including flight leader Dave Pinney by three strokes— heading into Sunday, but blazed the soggy course at The Eastwood with a flight-best 78 to leapfrog the field and take home the B Flight title convincingly.
Park (160) scored a six-stroke victory over runner-up Adam Brown (166). Pinney (167) finished third after winning a two-hole playoff over Scott Limberg (167), with Jim DeMoss fifth.
C Flight
A 90 at Pine Hills on Saturday put Mitch Barton in the hunt for the C Flight title, and his 83 Sunday at The Eastwood brought it home with a two-day 173, two strokes better than second-place finisher Josh Eplin (175).
Mike Ferko (176) was third, Tyler Sabol (177) fourth and Andrew Barton (178) fifth.
D Flight
A seven-shot victory sent Brian Watson (179) home the D Flight champion, carding a 95 at Pine Hills and an 84 at The Eastwood.
Paul Corbin (186), Jeff Harcar (193), Marcos Torres (196) and Dustin Masley (197) rounded out the flight’s top five.
Legends Flight/Senior
Charlie Monroe overcame a nine-stroke deficit Sunday to win the Legends crown by four strokes, finishing with a 147 to best runner-up B.J. Sipula’s 151. Budd Dilley (164) finished third. Monroe shot a 78 Saturday followed by a flight-topping 69 Sunday.
The Berry’s Senior division winner was Championship Flight golfer and tournament director Tony Muscato, who carded a 150.
