Shepherd sending 5 to IESA State

Shepherd School will be sending five young golfers to the IESA Boys State Finals on Friday in Metamora, led by sectional champion Bryer Harris (79). Adam Swanson (84), Colt Bryson (88), James Threadgill (94) and Jacob Armstrong (97) also are advancing.

Woodland baseball scores 2 wins

Woodland Junior High baseball defeated Flanagan, 15-4 (Nolan Price winning pitcher, two hits, two RBIs; Noah Decker two hits, two RBIs; Noah Lopez two hits) and Serena, 13-3 (Price winning pitcher with 4 Ks; Lopez and Decker each two hits and an RBI; Brezdyn Simons two hits).

Starved Rock Country Half-Marathon on Saturday

The Starved Rock County Half-Marathon presented by Dogfish Brewing and the Run SRC 5K presented by Lone Buffalo will take place Saturday. There will be no full marathon this year.

The half-marathon will begin at Starved Rock State Park at 7 a.m. and finish at Albin Stevens Drive, with the top finishers likely to arrive in an 8:15-8:45 time window. The 5K will both start and finish at Albin Stevens Drive, beginning shortly after the half-marathon.

Ottawa Fall Softball results

In Ottawa City Rec’s Thursday Night Men’s League:

J.F. Brennan 15, Allison Asphalt 2: Mickey Armstrong led the way to the win with four hits, while Kaleb Smith and Spencer Smith each added three. Tic Allison had two hits for Allison’s.

Berta’s Tap 26, Korte Turpin Tree Service 3: For Berta’s, Casey Huebbe was 4 for 4 with three home runs and eight RBIs. Karter Lowery, Matt Lambert and Drew Johnson had three hits. River Abram had the big bat of the night for Korte Turpin with a homer.

Berta’s Tap 13, Hometown National Bank 5: Brazon Wheeler, Karter Lowery and Matt Lambert each homered, while Hunter Sutton, Casey Huebbe, Reese Linde and Andrew Mathis all had multihit nights. For Hometown, Troy Yeager and Clay Caputo had two hits each, including a home run by Caputo.
