DuPage County reports 403 COVID-19 cases Monday, 2 deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Monday reported 403 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 2 deaths: 1 man in his 70s and 1 man in his 90s.

The county now has seen a total of 63,597 coronavirus cases including 1,026 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of January 5 was 98.0%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) positivity rate decreased to 10.4%. Currently, 22.8% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23.2% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and one day over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 12.2%, and DuPage County is at 9.5%.

Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 81 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 367 ventilators available out of 581.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,776 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 53 additional deaths Monday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate decreased from 7.9% to 7.6%.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,395 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,400, Lombard 3,297, Villa Park 1,972, Hinsdale 999, Westmont 1,602, Darien 1,303, Woodridge 2,013, Downers Grove 2,985, Elmhurst 3,298, Warrenville 1,017 and Winfield 823. Addison has had 3,965 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,367, Carol Stream 3,472 and West Chicago 3,522.
