Yorkville police arrest juvenile on weapons, other charges following Route 34 traffic stop

Yorkville police arrested a 17 year-old juvenile on weapons charges after stopping the vehicle he was driving for an equipment violation at 7:49 p.m. Oct. 16 on Route 34 at McHugh Road.

In a statement, police said during a search of the juvenile’s vehicle they located a 9mm handgun, cannabis, drug paraphernalia, a controlled substance and alcohol.

Police said the juvenile has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of alcohol by a minor and no valid driver’s license.

Police transported the suspect to the Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles pending court proceedings.
