Montgomery police arrest two on firearms charges after traffic stop

Suspects found in possession of fully loaded semi-automatic pistol that had been reported stolen

Montgomery police arrested Diamond Jones, 21, of the 10000 block of Sangamon Street, Chicago, and Elijah Jones, 23, of the 14000 block of Kimbark Avenue, Dolton, after stopping their for vehicle for speeding at 10:50 p.m. Sept. 8 on Montgomery Road at Pearl Street.

In a statement, police said officers conducted a search of the vehicle after smelling cannabis.

While searching the vehicle, police said officers located a fully loaded semi-automatic pistol underneath a passenger seat. Police said the pistol had been reported stolen in Georgia.

Police said both suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the village police station.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged the suspects with unlawful possession of a firearm without a FOID (Firearm Owners Identification) card and unlawful possession of a firearm without a concealed carry permit, according to police.
