Plano police station, 111 East Main Street, Plano

A Plano man has been arrested on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender, according to Plano police.

After charges were approved by the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, Plano police said in a press statement they arrested Jose Juarez-Hernandez, 65, of the 900 block of West South Street, on a charge of failure to register, a Class 3 felony, after making contact with him at 7:22 p.m., Jan, 26, in the 900 block of West South Street.

Police Investigator Gene Morton confirmed that Juarez-Hernandez was arrested on charges of criminal sexual assault in December. At the time, the suspect had been registered as a sex offender, but officers reported that he was in an unregistered vehicle. In the press statement, police said registered sex offenders must also register the license plates of every vehicle under their name.

Juarez-Hernandez was taken into custody and transported to the Plano police station where he was later released after posting bond. He was given a new date to appear at the Kendall County Courthouse in Yorkville.
