Yorkville police are continuing their investigation into a burglary at the Target store in the 1600 block of Beecher Road on the city’s northwest side.
In a statement, police said officers were summoned to the store on the report of a burglary at approximately 5:16 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20.
The statement continues, “It was learned that five individuals forced entry through the front glass doors after throwing a car jack through the window. All offenders were wearing masks and gloves. Upon the offenders making entry, an attempt was made to steal a television, however they were unsuccessful.
“Currently police are attempting to identify what item(s) may have been taken. The offenders departed the scene in a white Dodge Durango. Officers were able to locate the offending vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The offending vehicle did not stop and was last seen heading southbound on Route 47 from River Road.”
Police said in the statement that store employees were present during the burglary, but no one was injured.
Assisting Yorkville police at the scene were personnel from the Kendall Count Sheriff’s Office and Plano Police Department.
