High school sports roundup for Thursday, Sept. 30: Newark volleyball beats Rosary in three sets; Yorkville Christian loses for first time

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Newark d. Rosary 20-25, 25-20, 25-22

Megan Williams had 16 kills and four digs, Lauren Ulrich 25 assists, Taylor Kruser 12 digs and Aubrey Benesh nine digs and three crucial serving runs for Newark (17-5).

West Chicago d. Yorkville Christian 25-17, 13-25, 25-18

The host Wildcats handed Yorkville Christian (16-1) its first loss. Zoe Schuberth had 11 digs, 12 service points and three aces, Nina Schuberth six kills, 14 assists, three aces and six service points and Chloe Saxe nine kills, seven assists and five digs for the Mustangs.

BOYS SOCCER

Morris 3, Sandwich 2

Morris scored the game-winner with 44 seconds at the Interstate Eight Tournament. Xander Clark and Jaime Serrano scored goals for Sandwich (0-17-1). Johnathon Carlson had 10 saves in goal.

Newark/Seneca 5, Indian Creek 0

Angel Fernandez scored two goals and Lance Pasakarnis, Adrian Lleshi and Robert Rios each scored one for Newark/Seneca.
