High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Feb. 16: Minooka tops Yorkville girls, boys basketball

Oswego

This past Thursday, the Oswego girls bowling team opened its season at Yorkville Pinz against Yorkville.

The Panthers’ varsity team completed a sweep of Yorkville as they averaged 191 as a team in the match. Top bowlers for Oswego included a pair of sophomores in Lani Breedlove (639 series) and Katelyn Watson (574 series). Not far behind was senior captain Savanna Jourdan (560 series) and her freshman sister Hailey Jourdan (542 series). Also contributing to the Panther victory were juniors Evelyn James (507 series) and Lexi Dellaca (448 series).

High games for the Panther varsity squad included Breedlove’s 248 in game 2, and Savanna Jourdan’s 231 in the first game of the set.

Although Yorkville did not field a JV team, the Panther JV squad still had an opportunity to bowl and senior Mac Donahue (525 series) led the way for the Panthers. Other notable performances included freshman Madi Watson and Amber Lymenstull who put up series of 497 and 453, respectively. Junior Sydney Kuntzman contributed with a 383 series while Devonna Givens made her competitive bowling debut and shot 361 on the night.

In the first game of the match, Watson put up a solid score of 200 which was the high JV game of the night. Donahue also had a solid 194 in the final game of the set.
