High school sports roundup for Thursday, Feb. 18: Kjersten Friestad, Newark win big in LTC tournament quarterfinals

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Newark 62, DePue 7

Kjersten Friestad scored 20 points and Reese Heap added eight points and nine rebounds to lead the Norsemen (2-1) in the quarterfinals of the Little Ten Conference Tournament. Kellie Snyder added eight points, seven rebounds and five steals and Kaitlyn Hatteberg dished out six assists.

GIRLS BOWLING (Wednesday)

Oswego 2,683, Plainfield East 2,124

Oswego’s Lani Breedlove had the high series of 600 and high game of 223 at Bowlero in Romeoville. After struggling to an 832 in the first game, Oswego bowled games of 906 and 945 to win all games.

Hailey Jourdan had a 539 series, followed by Savanna Jourdan (537), and Katelyn Watson (530).

Oswego also won the JV match 1,933-1,231. Madi Watson had the high series of 472 followed by Mac Donahue’s 434.

BOYS BOWLING

Yorkville

Plainfield Central 3,157, Yorkville 2,873

Dale Horstmann bowled Yorkville’s high game of 269 and high series of 734.
