Oswego East junior Parker Nold, who took 10th at the Class 3A state cross country meet to cap off a season in which he took second at conference and first at regionals, is the Record Newspapers boys cross country Athlete of the Year.
The Yorkville girls cross country team had its extraordinary run of taking home state trophies come to an end with a fifth-place finish at Saturday's Class 3A state cross country meet. Oswego's boys, likewise, took fifth place, while Oswego's Audra Soderlind and Oswego East's Parker Nold both made All-State, as did Yorkville's Anna Hunter and Oswego's Ethan Forsell.
The Oswego cross country team has qualified its team for the state meet for the first time since 1994. Next up for the Panthers? They hope to take home the school's first state trophy on Saturday in Peoria.
