Yorkville Middle School student injured when hit by car in crosswalk near school

YORKVILLE -- A Yorkville Middle School student was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car in a pedestrian crosswalk near the school on March 30.

Police responded at about 2:37 p.m. to the 900 block of Prairie Crossing Drive, where a black Nissan Versa had hit the student while crossing the street in the crosswalk.

The driver of the Nissan, Christopher G. Tebich, 19, of Yorkville was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk in a school zone.

Information in this report is obtained from local police. Individuals who have been charged with a crime have not been proved guilty in court.
