Oswego School District 308 has announced that Hannah King from Oswego East High School has been named to the Honorable Mention All-State Academic Team of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) for the 2021-22 school year.

Every IHSA member school is invited to nominate one female student and one male student for consideration for the All-State Academic Team. Nominees are required to possess a minimum 3.50 grade point average on 4.0 scale after their 7th semester, have participated in at least two IHSA sponsored sports or activities during each of the last two years and demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

King is a multi-sport athlete who has participated in both cross country and softball at Oswego East High School for two years. In addition to being an AP Scholar and an Illinois State Scholar, she is also a member of:Girls Who Code, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Yoga Club, and National Technical Honor Society.

“Hannah’s strong work ethic, leadership capabilities and determination to further her goals make her an outstanding student-athlete, leader, and above all, an amazing person,” said Sarah Davies-Dymanus, Social Studies Teacher at Oswego East.

The nominations were evaluated by a committee made up of IHSA principals, representatives of the Illinois Activities Directors Association and representatives of the Illinois Athletic Directors Association.

Hannah was one of 50 students IHSA recognized to its Honorable Mention All-State Academic Team, out of hundreds of nominees. “This is a tremendous honor and I hope every student who was nominated takes a great deal of pride in all that they have accomplished,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson. “These students are the embodiment of what it means to take advantage of the entire high school experience. I am thankful to Caterpillar for providing the All-State Academic Team platform to honor and congratulate them.”
