Beyond the Bookshelves: Get a taste of your library during National Library Week

Discover the depth and breadth of library services available to you as we celebrate National Library Week on April 3-9. We’ve got a variety of drop-in and scheduled events for all ages that include technology, crafts, storytimes, historical portrayals and more.

Highlights include:

· 2 p.m. Sunday, April 3: A cooking demonstration by Chef Paul Saucedo of Geneva’s Cocoa Bean Fine Desserts.

· 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, and 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5: Technology services at the Geneva Public Library, such as databases for research, 3D printing, the Studio for podcasts and video and more.

· All day, Thursday, April 7: I Love My Library Green Screen Effects. We’ll help you change backdrops for your photos.

· 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7: Meet Emily Dickinson, The Belle of Amherst. Storyteller Paddy Lynn portrays the poet dressed in “bridal white” in this remarkable storytelling piece.

· 4 p.m. Friday, April 8: Trapped in a Book: A Teen Escape Room (grades 6-12). Find the clues and solve the riddles to get back to the library.

The librarian recommends: A grieving 12-year-old girl who lost her best friend in a tragic accident bonds with her new dog and they heal together in Rob Buyea’s “What Comes Next.” This middle school novel shows how compassion and love can change the future for the better. Librarian Lynne Schick said the book will make you cry, cheer and laugh.
