Geneva Chamber of Commerce: June doesn’t get much ‘Sweder’ than this

In 14 days, Geneva’s becomes center stage for the annual Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine.   The entire town will be exploding with activity through June 24-27.

While this summer event will look a bit different, the Chamber has been working hard at combining traditions and new activities that are safe and fun for the whole family. We are hopeful that all of our planned activities will commence, however do check genevachamber.com or our Facebook page (Geneva, IL-Chamber of Commerce & Tourism) for the most up-to-date information.

Thursday, June 24 kicks off with a flurry of excitement. Start this year’s celebration with the popular Geneva Settler’s Coffee. While a to-go event for 2021, it still promises a great meal and a chance to wave at long-time friends. The carnival opens and continues through Sunday. Concerts on the Lawn commences. Check the schedule to see who is performing.

The craft beer tent is back and expanded, with both brewers and location. Raise your glass and toast to Swedish Days on James Street. Food and entertainment offerings throughout the four days.

And Thursday night, shops are encouraged to stay open late for Moonlight Madness. Keep your eye out for some entertainers on downtown corners. Make your way down Third Street to admire some beautiful vintage cars.

Kids’ Day begins Friday. Geneva Public Library is our new location this year. While we will not be having the kids’ parade, we have plenty to keep the little (and big) ones busy all day.

Begin your Saturday with the 5K Lopp and keep the energy up for all our new events this day. Family Day at the Geneva Commons with an abundance of amusement, including the Greater Illinois Region Classic Car Club of America bringing some classics. The Kane County Cougars stadium is host to our NEW Swedish Days Dala-Palooza. An afternoon of some of the area’s top bands. Food trucks and drinks may be purchased as well. Tickets are selling quickly, so be sure to get yours at our website.

Of course, we have put the Swedish in Swedish Days. Several Swedish booths can be found on the Kane County Courthouse lawn. Saturday & Sunday will have a variety of performances to enjoy. You may find yourself tapping, clapping, singing and dancing.

Are you a chocoholic? End Swedish Days on Sunday, June 27 with our new Choklad Crawl. Fifteen businesses will tempt all our senses with chocolate inspired products. This chocolate crawl will have you moving all around Geneva. Your ticket includes all fifteen businesses and a goodie bag and can be purchased at our website (if tickets are still available).

While Swedish Days is bound to keep you and your family busy, do not forget to visit the shops and restaurants around town. Take this time to discover a new favorite.
