BATAVIA – A Batavia man remains hospitalized with serious injuries after his motorcycle was involved in a head-on crash with a car late Wednesday, Batavia police announced in a news release.
Michael Osborne, 50, of the 400 block of Fox Trail Drive, Batavia, was injured in the crash that occurred Wednesday night on North Washington Avenue. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
Alcohol is being investigated as a contributing factor, police said. At approximately 10:45 p.m., police were called to a crash in the 600 block of North Washington Avenue involving a Harley V-Rod motorcycle and a white Kia K5, the release stated.
“Preliminary investigation indicated that the Kia was traveling northbound on North Washington Avenue while the motorcycle was traveling southbound,” according to the release.
The motorcycle rider was thrown from the bike, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital, the release stated. Occupants of the Kia were not injured.
The crash is still under investigation and police have issued no citations so far. The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation.
