Barrington Motor Sales RV wants to open facility on east side of St. Charles

St. Charles aldermen on Monday will review plans of Barrington Motor Sales and Service Inc. to locate a boat, camper and recreational vehicle service and sales facility in an industrial business park on the city’s east side.

The City Council’s Planning and Development Committee will review the application for a special use permit for the property at 3825 Commerce Drive. The use is considered a special use in the Shanahan Planned Use Development.

Sean Bransky, president of Barrington Motor Sales and Service Inc., is a St. Charles resident. In a letter to city officials, Bransky said the company plans on using the location as its main location for retails sales and distribution of its new and used products.

“We plan on scaling down our dealership down from its current seven-acre Cook County location in Bartlett and focus more on an online web-based approach,” Bransky said. “We feel this location will be perfect for us and our clients in that respect.”

An off-site storage facility would store most of the inventory, while several recreational vehicles could be stored within the warehouse component of the facility. The site provides adequate parking, providing 13 parking stalls when 10 stalls are required. The three surplus stalls could also be used for vehicle display outdoors..

St. Charles Economic Development Planner Ciara Miller said in a memo that an off-site storage facility would store most of the inventory, while several recreational vehicles could be stored within the warehouse component of the facility.

“The site provides adequate parking, providing 13 parking stalls when 10 stalls are required,” Miller said. “The three surplus stalls could also be used for vehicle display outdoors.”

At their May 4 meeting, plan commissioners unanimously recommended approval of the special use permit.
