COVID-19 positivity rate keeps dropping in Kane County, but increase in new cases reported Monday

No additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Monday reported 79 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths. There were 63 new cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 58,123 total cases of the virus and 770 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 110 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.7%. Currently, 21% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity decreased to 5.8%, and DuPage County’s fell to 4.1%.

Hospitalizations decreased or remained stable nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,424 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 12 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 41,133 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 2.8%.

Illinois now has seen 1,356,391 total cases of the virus, and 22,235 people have died.
