La Salle-Peru Agriculture Building won’t open until August

Interim superintendent cites worker availability as construction delays push back completion date

Many pallets of bricks are being used to build the exterior wall of the La Salle-Peru Township High School's new Agriculture Center on the southeast corner of Sixth and Creve Coeur streets on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 in La Salle.

La Salle-Peru High School’s Agriculture Building won’t be ready until Aug. 1, Interim Superintendent Ingrid Cushing announced Wednesday.

The delay pushes back the original completion date by two months due to worker availability and supply chain issues, Cushing said at the school board meeting.

“Due to the availability of workers and various other factors, the target date has been moved to Aug. 1,” she said.

Board Member Matt Merboth noted that 75% of the brick work for the project is complete.
