This clinic transitioned to telehealth - and half its clients don't have smart devices
AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois recently donated 12 smart devices for clients who are over age 65 through its Senior Tech Connect program, according to Alaine Kvedaras, community planner for AgeGuide Northeastern Illinois. And the clinic just secured funding for another 100 tablets, Shawn West, executive director of the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic said. “We are purchasing tablets that are very user-friendly,” West said. The clinic will also cover the cost of Wi-Fi “for a couple of years” for patients who need Wi-Fi and will hold trainings over the phone, so clients know how to use their devices, West said. In the meantime, clinic staff have been conducting telehealth visits over the phone for patients who don’t – yet – have smart devices, West said.
