‘Wheel of Fortune’ to feature NIU Grad student on Thursday

DeKALB – Northern Illinois University graduate student Alyssa Tillmon is scheduled to appear on Thursday’s episode of “Wheel of Fortune,” with hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White.

Tillmon, who is from west suburban Bellwood just west of Chicago, is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at NIU. She was selected as a contestant on the show that will air Thursday during its “Happy Holidays!” week.

“You have to fill out an online application, they ask you to upload a video or picture of yourself, I would suggest doing both, just so they can see who you are in action to increase your chances,” Tillmon said. “I applied in February this year and received an email for an online audition in July.”

Tillmon said a day after her audition she received another email saying that she was selected to be on the show.

“To be chosen out of millions of people was shocking to me,” she said.

At the time, Tillmon was not sure when she would appear on the show. But after a couple of months show organizers reached out and established when she would appear on the show.

You can catch Tillmon on the show at 6:30 p.m. Thursday on ABC 7.
