Driver involved in rollover crash near Kishwaukee Family YMCA cited for failing to yield

SYCAMORE – A Sycamore resident was cited for failing to yield after a Wednesday rollover crash that happened near the Kishwaukee Family YMCA, according to city police.

Sycamore Deputy Police Chief Michael Anderson wrote in a Wednesday email the crash was caused by Matthew J. Reuscher, 19, of the 1500 block of Larson Street, Sycamore. He wrote Reuscher was cited for failure to yield while allegedly leaving a private drive.

“Two vehicles were involved and the driver of the second vehicle, which overturned, had minor injuries with no hospitalization,” Anderson wrote.

The overturned vehicle was seen being towed away at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Northwestern Medicine Loop drive and Bethany Road in Sycamore, with one Sycamore police vehicle on scene. There were no road closures resulting from the accident set up at that time.

Anderson’s comments came after Sycamore police posted on social media at 1:46 p.m. Wednesday about a rollover crash in the 2500 block of West Bethany Road in Sycamore near the Kishwaukee Family YCMA. Police had asked motorists to “please avoid the area.”

Sycamore police posted on social media again at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday that the crash was “all cleared up and the roadway is open.”
