Update: All clear after train blocks four crossings in downtown DeKalb

DeKALB - According to a Wednesday night alert from DeKalb police, a train which was blocking four railroad crossings in downtown DeKalb has been cleared after multiple hours.

According to the alert sent at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the train was blocking South Fourth Street, North Sixth Street, North Seventh Street and North Tenth Street railroad crossings.

Another alert sent shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday issued an all-clear.

DeKalb Police Cmdr. Steve Lekkas said the blocked train wasn’t related to an accident of crash that police are aware of.

“Seems to be a train issue,” Lekkas said at the time. “We’re trying to figure out why it stopped.”
