Everything seemed lined up for Kaneland to beat Sycamore on Monday and claim an outright Interstate 8 title. But when Anya Berry connected on her high-pressure penalty kick to life the Spartans to the win and a split of the I-8 crown with the Knights.
In front of an energetic crowd, Sycamore’s Izzie Segreti scored the game’s only goal in the 10th minute as the Spartans won El Classicorn as the rivalry game is known, 1-0.
Kaneland’s offense struggled all day against the Sycamore defense in their Interstate 8 battle on Wednesday. But with less than 10 minutes less, Kyra Lilly’s free kick found Jade Schrader, who punched it home for the only goal of the game in the Knights’ 1-0 win.

Freshman Gracey LePage raced up the left side and connected for a goal in the first half. Sixteen minutes later the Crystal Lake South freshman raced up the right side with the same result. She scored both goals in the Gators' 2-0 win over Sycamore.
