Kaneland’s Josh Pehl and Cody Ganzon advanced to day two of the Class 2A State Finals at Weibring Golf Course in Normal on Friday.
Pehl shot a 74 to finish the day in an eight-way tie for 17th place and Ganzon sits at 58th place heading into Saturday with a 78.
GIRLS GOLF
Class 2A State Finals: At Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur, Kaneland’s Katharine Marshall and Sycamore’s Brianna Chamoun moved on to day two of state championship action.
Marshall finished day one tied for 21st place with a 76 and Chamoun ended in a seven-way tie for 75th with an 86.
BOYS SOCCER
Hinckley-Big Rock 4, Indian Creek 1: At Shabbona, the Royals scored early and often in a road win over the Timberwolves.
H-BR opened a three-goal lead before halftime intermission on the way to the Class 1A Genoa-Kingston Regional quarterfinal victory.
VOLLEYBALL
Yorkville Christian 2, DeKalb 0: At Huntley, the Barbs suffered a 25-19, 25-14 loss at the Huntley Invite.
Sycamore 2, Marian Central 0: At Huntley, the Spartans handed the Hurricanes a 25-16, 25-23 loss at the Huntley Invite.
Huntley 2, Sycamore 0: At Huntley, the Huntley Invite’s host picked up a two-set win, 25-8, 25-21, over the Spartans.
Little Ten Conference Tournament: At Hinckley, the Royals defeated Leland, 2-1, while Hiawatha lost to Somonauk, 2-0, and Indian Creek fell, 2-1, to Earlville.
H-BR will face Somonauk in the consolation match in Shabbona on Saturday.
