DeKalb soccer, volleyball, dance quarantined until April 8

Three DeKalb athletic programs will be quarantined until April 8, according to athletic director Peter Goff.

The boys soccer, girls volleyball and girls dance programs will not compete or practice for two weeks effective from a March 24 contact date. It affects the varsity and junior varsity levels of all three sports plus sophomore volleyball.

“It all started Saturday morning when myself and the coaches together started getting a hold of parents and make sure everyone knew,” Goff said. “The key thing I have always stated is that safety is the main concern. The safety of our students and the safety of others. We have guidelines set by the DeKalb County Health Department and we have to follow those guidelines.”

In a press release, the mitigation was made by the district and the DeKalb County Health Department, the release said.

The announcement comes two days after the DeKalb football team had a game canceled at Naperville North, just hours prior to kickoff due to a COVID-19 issue with Naperville North. The Naperville North team is in a two-week quarantine.

The football team is unaffected, according to the release.
