The Hiawatha boys basketball team is coming of its winningest season since 2003-04. The Hawks are hoping to build off their 10 wins and change the program's reputation led by double-double machine Aidan Cooper.

About 100 people packed into Sycamore High School’s gymnasium Wednesday night to celebrate a historic moment: a state title for the boys track and field team. “These kids worked their tails off,” district athletic director Chauncey Carrick said.

Ava McFadden had three hits, including a home run, as Huntley advanced to the Class 4A Barrington Sectional final with a 6-1 win over DeKalb on Wednesday, ending the Barbs' most successful season in almost a decade.

Sycamore High School filled Wednesday night with Spartan fans, families and athletes to celebrate a historic win: The first state championship title in program history for the Class 2A boys track and field team.

Brooklyn Johnson made a diving catch in right field to rob Sycamore of a run. Oli Victorine pitched an 11-strikeout gem. And Ella Arana hit a rocket that drove in the first of two Crystal Lake Central runs in the fifth inning of their 2-0 win in a sectional semifinal on Tuesday.

It took less than a year from Brittney Patrick to go from 'Ew, I hate it,' about coaching to loving it. The DeKalb native and Bolingbrook grad just joined Jacey Brooks' staff at NIU.

Aidan Wyzard and Dylan Hodges won state titles and help Sycamore claim the team points crown on Saturday at the Class 2A boys track and field state championships. Indian Creek, Kaneland and DeKalb also had medalists.
