DeKalb County reported 46 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, averaging about 15 cases per day among those in their teens to their 70s, while the number of those fully vaccinated topped 28,000.
No new deaths were reported Monday, which leaves the death toll at 117, the latest a woman in her 50s reported Friday.
The new cases Monday brings the total to 9,931, according to the DeKalb County Health Department.
According to Illinois Department of Public Health data, 66,456 total vaccine doses have been administered to DeKalb County residents, and 28,013 residents, or 26.90% of the county’s population of 104,143, have been fully vaccinated. The seven-day rolling average of doses administered to county residents is at 665, with 10,155 doses of total reported inventory, according to state numbers – 9,555 at the health department and 600 at community partners. The inventory numbers are according to state health officials, and may differ from local numbers, DeKalb County health officials said.
The seven-day rolling positivity rate for Region 1, which runs north to Rockford and west to the Iowa border rose to 5.6%. The county positivity rate remained at 4.8%. Positivity rates are reported with a three-day data lag. Region 1 also reports a 7-day average of 104 COVID-19 patients hospitalized.

By the numbers
Four local long-term facilities currently are battling the virus, though no new cases linked to any facility was reported Monday.
The DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center reports three cases in employees and one in a resident. Heritage Woods in DeKalb reported three cases in employees. Oak Crest-DeKalb Area Retirement Center reports seven cases in employees. Prairie Crossing Living and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona with a case each in a staff member and resident.
Of the new cases, four were in residents 19 or younger, 15 in their 20s, nine in their 30s, three in their 40s, 10 in their 50s, four in their 60s and one in their 70s.
In total, there have been 1,756 cases in DeKalb County residents 19 or younger, 2,416 in their 20s, 1,490 in their 30s, 1,361 in their 40s, 1,230 in their 50s, 825 in their 60s, 444 in their 70s and 409 in their 80s or older.
There have been 68 deaths reported in DeKalb County residents in their 80s or older, 18 in their 70s, 18 in their 60s, seven in their 50s, three in their 40s, one in their 30s, one in their 20s, and one infant.
According to county data, DeKalb has seen between 4,416 and 4,420 cases. There are between 1,971 and 1,975 cases in Sycamore; 856 and 860 in Sandwich and Plano (listed as one region on the site); 776 and 780 in Genoa; 451 and 455 cases in Cortland; 251 and 255 cases in Hinckley; 241 and 245 in Kirkland; 221 and 225 in Kingston; 186 and 190 cases in Somonauk; 136 and 140 in Waterman; 121 to 125 in Malta; 116 and 120 in Shabbona; 86 and 90 in Maple Park; 21 and 25 in Clare and Earlville; 11 and 15 in Leland and Esmond; and six and 10 in Lee. Marengo and Rochelle each report between one and five cases.
The DeKalb County website only lists residents who live within county lines for a municipality, while the IDPH website lists everyone within a certain ZIP code. Numbers also may vary because of data lags.
The 60115 ZIP code, including DeKalb, had 4,241 cases reported and 76,614 tests administered (a positivity rate of 5.5%); the 60178 ZIP code, including Sycamore, had 1,974 cases and 23,419 tests (8.4%); the 60111 ZIP code, including Clare, reported 24 cases and 271 tests (8.8%); the 60112 ZIP code, including Cortland, had 449 cases and 4,930 tests (9.1%); the 60135 ZIP code, including Genoa, had 769 cases and 7,055 tests (10.9%); the 60145 ZIP code, including Kingston, had 213 cases and 1,946 tests (10.9%); the 60146 ZIP code, including Kirkland, had 258 cases and 2,575 tests (10%); the 60150 ZIP code, including Malta, had 116 cases and 1,600 tests (7.2%); the 60151 ZIP code, including parts of Maple Park in both DeKalb and Kane counties, had 344 cases and 3,678 tests (9.3%); the 60520 ZIP code, including Hinckley, had 244 cases and 2,937 tests (8.3%); the 60548 ZIP code, including Sandwich, had 1,300 cases and 14,057 tests (9.2%); the 60550 ZIP code, including Shabbona, had 128 cases and 1,756 tests (7.2%); and the 60556 ZIP code, including Waterman, had 132 cases and 1,570 tests (8.4%).
The IDPH reported 1,341,777 people in Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19, while 22,047 people have died statewide. There have been 22,872,035 tests performed to date.
According to testing and recovery data released weekly on Fridays by the county, 8,819 DeKalb County residents have fully recovered as of April 30, and there have been 149,767 tests run on county residents.
